Compress Image
Shrink a JPG, PNG, or WebP until it fits a limit such as 100 KB, 200 KB, or 1 MB. You set the target. The browser does the work, and the original file stays on your device.
This file never leaves your device. The tool runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP.
- Type a target in kilobytes, or move the quality slider.
- Compare the before and after preview.
- Download the smaller file. Nothing is uploaded.
A phone photo for a 200 KB form
A 4 MB phone JPEG asked to fit in 200 KB usually lands near quality 0.6 to 0.8 if the long edge is kept around 1600 pixels. The result line shows the exact bytes and the percentage saved.
Forms, email, and marketplaces reject photos that are a few megabytes too large. This tool encodes a JPEG or WebP at the highest quality that still lands under your target. If quality alone cannot get there, it scales the long edge down in small steps and tries again, so a 200 KB export stays sharper than a single crush to minimum quality. PNG is lossless in the browser, so a PNG target is met by resizing rather than by a quality slider. GIF exports the first frame.
Questions
How do I compress an image to 200 KB?
Open the tool, drop the image, and set the target to 200 KB. The page searches for the highest JPEG or WebP quality that fits, then reduces dimensions only if it has to.
Will compressing ruin the photo?
A modest target keeps the picture clear. Asking a 12 megapixel photo to become 30 KB will look soft, and the page will say when it could not hit the target cleanly.
Which formats can I compress?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, and the first frame of a GIF. HEIC from an iPhone has its own converter, then you can compress the JPEG it produces.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser and processed on this device. ProHacks does not receive the photo or the PDF.
