WebP to JPG

Convert a WebP picture to a JPEG so older tools, slides, and upload forms can open it. You choose the JPEG quality. The WebP never leaves the browser.

On this device

This file never leaves your device. The tool runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Drop a .webp file.
  2. Choose JPEG quality.
  3. Preview the result.
  4. Download the .jpg.

A WebP saved from a website

A 1600 pixel WebP becomes a JPEG of the same width and height. At quality 0.85 the file is usually a practical size for a document or an email.

WebP is common on the web and awkward in some desktop apps and office documents. This page decodes the WebP locally and encodes a JPEG. Transparent WebP pixels are placed on white. If the WebP was already a small, heavily compressed image, the JPEG cannot recover detail, but it will open in software that has never heard of WebP.

Questions

Why convert WebP to JPG?

Some editors, presentation tools, and form uploads still accept JPEG only. Converting once solves that without a desktop app.

Does this work on a phone?

Yes, in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. The decode and encode both happen on the phone.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is read in your browser and processed on this device. ProHacks does not receive the photo or the PDF.

Will the JPEG be smaller?

Sometimes. WebP is already efficient. The point of this page is compatibility, and the quality slider lets you trade size for clarity.
